"Where words leave off, music begins."                            H.Heine (German Poet 1797-1856)
" The piano is my second self"                                       Fr. Chopin (1810-1849)
About me...

   Well, I am a Pianist.
I perform, and I teach at The "Kingsway Conservatory of Music, in Toronto.
I also play Chamber Music, and in duets with singers and other                                        instrumentalists.

I was born in Romania, in the very old and picturesque city of Deva, Hunedoara           county. Our region is considered to be the cradle of the Romanian people.More          than 2000 years ago, the Romans have conquered that part of Europe, known as            Dacia...and here we are....the Romanian people, with our Romanian language
( one of the oldest language of Latin origin),with our Eastern European traditions,         but always entirely open to the world. Music, poetry, dance are part of our being.

I have been asked many times if the study of music was MY choice or my family's. Well, the answer is : both. I was born in family of artists and my mother's grand piano was waiting for me in the living room. Music, theater, literature fine arts, were and still are, part of our daily life. I started playing piano at the age of 6 with my mother who was my real Piano Teacher until I was about 14 years old. I am fortunate to have had two wonderful mentors - my grandmother and my mother to guide my in the world of arts. Since the very first " steps" on the keyboard , my mother used to tell me :" Ok. Lets tell the story...." She
meant, the story hidden in the music. "Lets bring our the waterfalls, the fairies, the clouds..."Even when I was practicing scales and arpeggios I always tried to create an image, to put the "technique" to serve a specific sonority.

On the page : My way - I wrote some of my thoughts about how I approach the study of a musical piece and my

point of view about teaching piano.

I want to tell that I was not tied to the piano bench....I had a very normal childhood. I played outside with my friends, I watched TV, I traveled , I had dogs and we went to dog shows ....I was enrolled in the Music School in Deva and I follow the ...curriculum....and I practice 2 hours everyday....that's all...Music Schools in Romania are different : they are regular schools ( from kindergarten to high school ) with Music  subjects added to the curriculum : theory, solfeggio, history of music, instrument....

I participated in National competitions and I won first places and I achieved a very high level of performance abilities which enabled me to make Concert debut at 11 years old with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Timisoara - Mozart's Piano concerto K.413 .

From 1900 to 1994 I studied in Switzerland  at the Institute of Music"Pierre de Ribaupierre" in Lausanne and I obtained my diploma in Performance in June 1992. I had the privilege  to study with the late  Greek Pianist Achille Colassis, who was an accomplished musician and the son-in-law of the renowned German Pianist Walter Gieseking.

I also studied with Swiss Pianist Ferline Studi , the founder of he Studi Quartett and music director at the Olimpic museum in Lausanne. During my stay in Switzerland  had the opportunity to perform live for the Radio Suisse Romande LaPremiere

On the page : Resume - there is a list with all my performances including  the program played.

We are in Canada since 1994 and of course, I continued my studies at the Royal conservatory of Music in Toronto and at the faculty of Music. In 1998 I obtained my ARCT in Performance Diploma .I graduated from the Faculty of Music  , University of Toronto, Bachelor in Performance 2001 and Master of Music in Performance 2002.

As a student I had the privilege to be guided by extraordinary musicians and distinguished professors :

Professor Emeritus William Aide, Professors : Marietta Orlov, Daryl Edwards, Thimoty McGee, Che Ann Lowen, James Kippen, Scott St. John.

I sustained yearly solo piano recitals, I participated in competitions, I won the Kiwanis Music Festival President's Trophy, I played in fund raising events. Now, I keep on playing.....I one of the solicited accompanist for the Faculty of Music auditions and recitals.... and I enjoy teaching...

I want to share with my audiences ( through my playing ) and with my students, everything I know, to open the world of music from my heart to their hearts.

I love teaching and performing. Piano is for me too " my second self " as Chopin said.
