My Family.....

                        

I was born in a family of artists.My maternal grandparents were actors and they played in many theaters in Romania (Bucharest, Craiova, Ploiesti, Bacau and Petrosani). My grandfather Actor Gheorghe Iordanescu  started his career inM the early 30s and retired in 1968 after being for more than 18 years the leading actor at the State Theater "Valea Jiului" Petrosani. He had an extraordinary talent, he played most leading roles in musicals, comedies, dramas from Romanian and International Dramaturgy from V. Eftimiu, I.L.Caragiale, to Goldoni, Shakespeare, Moliere... He was a very energetic man, loved life passionately, enjoyed a glass of good wine, hiking,but he also was a very hard working man.Not only he played leading roles but he also had "administrative" tasks  during the long tours the ensemble had all over the country. He was very organized in everything and he also was a great handyman. I love him without having ever met him. He died of larynx cancer one month and a half before my birth.

My grandmother Actress Dana Pantazopol  Iordanescu married my grandfather in 1951 and  together lived and worked in Petrosani until their retirement in 1968 when they moved to a mountain resort, Predeal, and in 1977 they moved to Deva, because I was on may way....and they wanted to offer me everything they offered to my mom, but most especially their love and care...(Please see " Over the Rainbow" page )

Live was not easy in Romania after the II WW, most especially after the country has been swept by the communist wave, but my grand parents stood focused on their passion for theater and their family.They were great artists and great parents. Parenting for them was not a role to play the best they possibly    could, but a vocation.I am so proud of being their grand daughter and I thank them for everything they gave me through my mother.They were convinced that only an open minded, well educated and free spirited person can succeed in achieving high goals in life..not necessarily in a given career but mostly as a human being.To be open to the entire world without any kind of discrimination, to have access to everything which the humanity has produced in arts, literature, music, philosophy ...to know that you as a person belong first and foremost to the humankind and after that to any specific part of the globe...as Terentiu said :" I am a human being, so nothing human is strange to me".

I thank them both for everything they have done for us,for all the sacrifices they had to make to be able to offer us the best education, for all their dreams and hopes, for everything they have invested in us, to help us become what we are today. 

My mother is working on a website dedicated to my grand parents, site which will be linked to mine as soon as it is completed.
My mother Ms. Mira Iordanescu made her stage debut at 6 months old!(as a baby of course) in the arms of my grandmother.She kept on joining her parents on stage until  the home work from school became more important...she started playing piano at 6 years old and she continued until she finished the College of Music in Brasov .From 1975 to 1982 she joined the artistic ensemble of Musical Theater in Deva and also enrolled in " extra muros" courses at the University of Bucharest  getting her diploma in French and Romanian Languages and Literatures. After my birth she, like my grandmother, dedicated her life to me. She was my first Piano teacher, she stood next to me to the piano everyday teaching me everything she knew and continuing to learn more and more; like my grandmother , my mom was at my site at every step, in all situations. My mother is a multi talented woman : she draws, she paints, she used to write a lot, especially  in Romania,she sung and danced, she does extraordinary crafts...she speaks three languages too....She promised a site for her self and my grand parents and I will make sure she does it...She taught piano in Switzerland for three years at "La Syncope " school of music in Morges, and in Canada she taught for almost 8 years at the New Conservatory of Music in Scarborough.She retired from teaching due to severe back problems. My mother does not want a tribute page on my site because she says : 'God had already blessed my with you, I don't need anything else". My mother is quite modest, but I owe her as much as I owe to my grandmother.

I have been blessed with and extraordinarily wonderful family. What else could I say.?
