Thank
you for being my grandmother.Thank you for loving me with your entire
life and thank you for opening the words of arts for me, and guiding me
in this universe. Thank you for sharing with me everything you knew and
for continuing to learn more so I could get richer every day. Thank you
for encouraging me at every step in
my life, for believing in me, for being our anchor and our lighthouse, for helping us
through the tempests and sharing with us our joys and our successes.Thank you for having given us your entire life.
Thank you for being such an extraordinary human being.
It
was a rainy day in April when I was born, and my
grandmother was there, waiting for my
first cry, and since then she became and essential and permanent part
of our lives. Grandmother,mentor,educator,playmate,loving,gentle,strict,humorous,dreamy,tough,
idealistic,intelligent,open minded,energetic, creativewith a creat sense of humour...such a
complex woman.
My
grandmother has performed in many theaters in Romania ( Bucharest,
Bacau, Ploiesti and Petrosani)for more than
30 years before retiring. There are some pictures of her in different roles on the Photo Gallery
page. She was a very intelligent woman, highly educated, she spoke ( besides
Romanian)
French and English fluently. She could give quotations in Latin on any subject, she knew
so many poems by Romanian and Foreign poets. She always said that the real riches one can
never loose are those which are in our heads
and hearts.
My grandmother never envied anybody, she never lost trust
in the goodness
of the humankind, but, what is most important : she always used her own
mind to express an opinion. She always
insisted that education is the only tool which can help people to progress in life, not only professionally
but most importantly as human beings. The more you know the more " weapons
" you have to fight against all the adversities that life might
bring your way
.
She
was passionate about arts. She loved to explain everything, she loved
to make literary analysis for everything she red and always, always,
always sharing with us her opinions. She had an extraordinary talent for the literary arts and my
mother inherited it. She never
renounced her principles of life, never gave up her ideals, hopes and
dreams. She introduced me to the great painters, writers,
composers. She gave us the best of her self
with every single moment of her life.
Ad bed time...yes she did read me bed time stories...not
only the classic fairy tales , but also fairy tales about...Da Vinci, Velasquez, Rembrands,
Michelangello,....or poems by Lamartine, Heine, Prevert, Eminescu, Goga, Romanian and Universal
poets...
It
is impossible to summarize in a couple of lines the gigantic amount of
knowledge this highly cultivated human
being had.Only those who knew her could confirm.I would not over estimate her when saying that my grandmother
was a living encyclopedia.
My grandmother had the greatest respect for every living
being. She loved dogs passionately and since the day I was born,
there were always dogs in our lives. She never considered herself superior to anybody ( humans nor animals ).
She had such a strong faith that nothing, nothing, nothing could have ever made her ere from
her path...
.
My
beloved grandmother was the embodiment of what the poet W. Blake said
in "Auguries of Innocence " :
"To see the world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Is to hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour "
I thank you and I keep you in my life as a blessing from God.
